Meet Arthur Briles of the Baylor Bears


Again, maybe you're not a Baylor Bears fan. Read this up anyways! You need to know about your competion in the Big 12 Football.

Arthur Ray Briles was born December 3, 1955 in Rule, Texas. Art Briles was born into a football family and began his career in high school where he attended Rule High School and was coached by his father. Art Briles was offered a football scholarship to the University of Houston where he was put on the football roster as a wide receiver, he played three seasons for the University of Houston including an appearance in the Cotton Bowl.

After completing multiple degrees, Art Briles started his coaching career at Sundown High School as an assistant coach. He served as the assistant coach and head coach for several different high schools before going to Texas Tech in 1999 to serve as an assistant coach on Mike Leach’s staff. Then in 2003, Art Briles got his first big NCAA break when he was named the head coach for the University of Houston, his alma matter. WOW! Such an impressive resume.


In late 2007, Art Briles was hired as the Baylor Bears head coach and began to work at turning around one of the bottom teams in the NCAA Big 12.
