Baylor Bears Josh Gordon Suspended Indefinitely

Baylor Bears Wide Receiver Josh Gordon was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. This is huge for the Baylor Bears. They are expected to have a really good season this year because they return star quarterback and plenty of other starters from a competitive Baylor team last year. Gordon caught 7 touchdowns last year.

Gordon is also a huge NFL prospect. He's 6 foot 4 and weighs 215 pounds. He has the ideal size and weight for an NFL wide receiver. ESPN's Mel Kiper has him rated as the 3rd best junior Wide Receiver in college football.

Gordon was arrested last October when he was found outside a Taco Bell passed out. Marijuana was found in his car, but he did not miss any games for the incident last season. You can imagine that this previous incident had something to do with him being suspended indefinitely.

Oklahoma Sooners Team Preview

The Oklahoma Sooners return 9 starters on the offensive side of the ball and 5 starters from the defensive side of the ball from the team that beat Stanford in the Sun Bowl to end their season. The three players they're losing on offense were huge stars for them. They're losing Sam Bradford, Trent Williams, and Jermaine Gresham, all top 25 picks in the 2010 NFL draft. Their is still no doubting the Sooner's talent. They return Sun Bowl MVP Landry Jones and star running back DeMarco Murray. Landry Jones got a ton of experience this last season by starting 11 games for the injured Sam Bradford. The Sooner's are loaded with talent, as usual, and should be gunning for a Big 12 Championship.

Texas Starting Early

The Texas Longhorns kicked off their spring practices last week, getting a head start on the rest of their fellow Big 12 competition. The Texas Longhorns receivers will need to step it up to prove themselves this spring, if they expect to see play time in the coming season. With All-American Jordan Shipley gone, UT has numerous receivers fighting for their sport on the starting roster. If any expect to show the coaches they have what it takes, spring practice is their chance. So far, James Kirkendoll has been the stand out reciever, but we'll have to wait and see what the coaches think.

Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M University Aggies football team have been going for over 115 years. Since their establishment, the Texas Aggies have won a national title along with 18 conference titles and has had two undefeated seasons. For about a 30 year period, ending in 1971, the Texas Aggies had a very unlucky time.

Everything was turned around with the hiring of Emory Bellard as head coach who returned the team to the status they had once known. The years after Bellard was at the forefront of the Aggie squad went up and down, before once again being saved by a new head coach in 1981, Jackie Sherrill. During Sherrill’s reign over the Aggies, the team won three consecutive conference titles and two Cotton Bowl Classics.

One of the Texas Aggies’ worst season in school history was recently in 2008 with head coach Mike Sherman, finishing with a record of 4-9 which included a 49-9 loss against the Texas Longhorns.

A long-time tradition for the Texas Aggies is their rivalry with the University of Texas. This rivalry has been ongoing for ninety years and includes the Texas A&M students have a large bonfire on campus each fall. This bonfire symbolizes burning the Texas University team in the next game. This tradition began in 1909 and became sanctioned by the school three decades later.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Oklahoma State University Cowboys football team didn’t join a conference until 1915. Originally, the team was known as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies. The Cowboys have gone through major changes over the decades, which includes switching conferences or Athletic Associations a few times over. In May of 1957, Oklahoma A&M officially changed their name to Oklahoma State University and became a part of the Big Eight Conference a year later. Not until 1996 would OSU become part of the Big 12 Conference as we know them today.

Currently, the head coach is Mike Gundy who has been apart of the team for four seasons. Gundy is an alum of OSU and the Cowboys football team. While Gundy was on the football team, the Cowboys had their greatest seasons including two of only three 10-win seasons in school history. Gundy also set college football season records with 2,628 yards rushing, 3,249 total yards, 234 points, 39 touchdowns, of which 37 were rushing (also a record), five consecutive 200 yard games, scored at least two touchdowns in eleven consecutive games, and 9 times he scored at least three touchdowns. All of these accomplishments won Mike Gundy the Heisman Trophy as the season’s best player. The OSU Cowboys are happy to have Gundy at the forefront of their team.

The OSU Cowboys currently play on the Lewis Field, in Boone Pickens Stadium. The stadium was recently remodeled with extensive changes and expansions, which brought a whole new atmosphere to the fans. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Only six more to go on this countdown! Today is all about the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The University of Nebraska Cornhustkers is a self-proclaimed traditional powerhouse, and holds the fourth-most all-time victories of any NCAA Division I-A team. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have completed 119 seasons and hold the all-time record of 827–341–40. The University of Nebraska holds the most wins in the college football program over the last 50 years, including their winning percentage.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team was established in 1890, with a 10-0 victory on Thanksgiving Day. Before becoming the Cornhuskers, the program had numerous nicknames such as the “Tree Planters”, the “Nebraskans” and the “Old Good Knights”. The name “Cornhuskers” came after they beat Iowa in 1893 by their local newspaper and again in the Nebraska State Journal in 1899.

Over the decades, the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team has claimed 46 conference championships, five national championships and five undefeated seasons. In 1971, ESPN.com named the Cornhuskers the greatest team of all time. The biggest rival for the Nebraska Cornhuskers are the Oklahoma Sooners, who regularly battle it out. Before the Big 12 was established, one of the two teams have either won or shared the conference championship 71 times in the 89 year history of the Big Eight Conference.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team currently holds the record for the most consecutive sold out home games. The Cornhuskers recently celebrated their 301st sellout on October 17, 2009 and dates back to November 3, 1962 during Bob Devaney's first season at Nebraska. It would definitely be a treat to see the Cornhuskers on their own turf!
