Top 5 potential candidates to win Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year

The current Big 12 offensive player of the year, Oklahoma States junior standout wide receiver Justin Blackmon will look to repeat.

Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles will be looking for the award also.

However, Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray will be looking to intercept the award from those two receivers in the state of Oklahoma.

Then on the quarterback side of things, look out for Oklahoma QB Landry Jones and OSU QB Brandon Weeden to contend for the award considering who they are throwing too.

So it's a little premature - I get that. However, that being said, the Oklahoma Sooners are ESPN's #1 Team going into the 2011 rankings right now. ESPN writes "The Sooners might be the team to beat in 2011, with 14 players coming back who have starting experience on offense and 15 on defense. Quarterback Landry Jones gets back his favorite target, Ryan Broyles, who passed on entering the NFL draft to return to school, and all but one offensive lineman is expected back." Oklahoma Sooners fans, looks like you might have another potential championship team next season.

2011 Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma Sooners 48, Connecticut Huskies 20

The Oklahoma Sooners crushed the Connecticut Huskies in the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. The UCONN Huskies qualified for the Fiesta Bowl via an automatic birth from the Big East. They probably didn't deserve that BCS birth. Quarterback Landry Jones threw for 429 yards and 3 touchdowns while wide receiver Ryan Broyles caught 13 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown. A 28-10 run in the 2nd half blew open the game after Oklahoma had a 10 point lead going into half. The win caps a 12-2 season for the Oklahoma Sooners.
